MOBILIZATION PRINCIPLES

TALK TO GOD ABOUT STUDENTS BEFORE TALKING TO STUDENTS ABOUT GOD - All mission movements have been born out of consistent and devoted prayer. We will strive to cultivate daily dependence on God and call on Him to do the impossible through our ministry.

INVITE TO GOD’S STORY - The Biblical Theme of Missions is the best mobilization tool that we can wield. Scolding and our personal stories are not mobilization. Shine the light of God’s word into all issues. We recruit to the vision not an organization. (Luke 24)

THROW A BIG ROCK – The ripple of our message must travel to the edges of the world. Challenge Students to finishing the task. There will always be a percentage of people we offend by lordship, frontier mission, lostness, etc. and that is the signal that we are pushing hard enough on the right nerves. When no one is upset we have lost our saltiness in this generation. (Rom. 15:20)

BRING ME THE SICK - (Mark 2:17) We want to focus on activating the uninvolved. We aren’t as concerned with picking fruit, as we are with planting more trees. Affirm and mature the weak, remembering where we came from. (Rom 14:1, 15:1)

WEDDING DAY MENTALITY - Find a way to get the job done, be agile and a problem solver when it comes to helping students, serving the campus ministry, and pairing students with our agencies.  We have unlimited variables that could change how we do our job day to day so don’t give up easily. Think outside the box and find a way to win.  “They made a hole in the roof over where Jesus stood.” Luke 5:19 NLT

TRAVEL-SIZE - We want to make everything as transferable as possible so that we empower students to continue a mobilization movement. Simple is more portable. “Write down the vision and make it plain on tablets, so that the herald may run with it” (Hab. 2:2) Lose any jargon, insider language or knowledge-flexing that hinders students from reproducing our message. “We should not make it difficult for the Gentiles turning to God” (Acts 15:19-20).

CREATE A CRISIS – People experience God when they are faced with a fork in the road, an unavoidable moment and crisis of faith where they are required to trust God and see Him work. Students often freeze up in over-choice so we must be clear and discerning to help them decide and create those moments. There is no one more trained, more neutral, and more relationally trusted to match students with mission opportunities and point them to next steps than The Traveling Team staff.  “Father, make of me a crisis man. Bring those I contact to decision. Let me not be a milepost on a single road; make me a fork, that men must turn one way or another on facing Christ in me.” Jim Elliot.

VISION LEAKS - We need to keep mobilizing ourselves and cultivating the World Christian life we hope to reproduce in others. (Ezra 7:10) Our personal development will be the best thing we can do for the sake of impacting students.

I’VE GONE PRO - We work like professionals. We value those that open the door for our ministry; the campus minister, the agencies who invest in us, and the donors that financially support our staff. We operate as a ministry and a non-profit business, valuing professionalism, accountability, and a farmer work ethic.
