PROFESSIONALISM
Our character is the most professional thing about us. There is no one else doing The Traveling Teams for us to model after – we must keep the bar high. Excellence and professionalism are best representing Jesus in what we do.
PROFESSIONALS WORK WITH INTEGRITY - (Col. 3:22) Obey with sincerity of heart as you are working for the Lord. This looks like following through on responsibility and finishing well, working until the last day.
CONTEXTUALIZE AN APPROPRIATE APPEARANCE - The Lord looks at the heart, but we contextualize our message to the culture we live in.
WE LIVE OUT A STRONG WORK ETHIC - Work ethic is not something people are born with. We will create 80% of our work week from scratch so we desire to have a culture of discipline and a “farmer work ethic.”
PUNCTUALITY IS A CULTURAL EXPECTATION IN AMERICA - You show a lack of respect for authority and others when you are late. This is not just a personality thing; valuing one another’s time is showing respect for another human made in the image of God.
WE PREPARE WELL - (Col. 3:23-24) Great work delivered late is no better than good work delivered on time. We strive to over-deliver on quality and timeliness.
WE EXHIBIT A GRACIOUS AND THANKFUL SPIRIT. Have a privilege mentality about working with The Traveling Team and toward those who invite us in. An attitude of entitlement reeks of pride. We will posture our hearts to be thankful in all circumstances.
WE RESPECT OUR EMPLOYER, ONE ANOTHER, AND OTHERS. (Eph. 6:5, 1 Tim. 6:2) We respect other ministries with our heart attitude as well as verbally. Show grace to your team and your leaders. Edify other ministries in spite of their shortcomings.
WE OVER-COMMUNICATE. One detail left uncommunicated could have huge ramifications for the ministry of The Traveling Team. Circular listening, clarifying by repeating back, and making sure communication is taking place will be necessary.
WE RESOLVE CONFLICTS PROMPTLY AND GRACIOUSLY. Keep bitterness from festering. Hebrews exhorts us to make sure no one misses the grace of God. Give feedback with grace and take it with humility. Conflict on The Traveling Team is not a breaking dam but a leaking faucet, a daily drip.
WE ARE LIFELONG LEARNERS. We cannot live off our vision from college forever. We prepare for a lifetime of ministry because we are believers. We are never finished growing, seeking advice, advancing our skills, training, and reading.
