Road Roles and Responsibilities
TEAM LEADER
Encourages the spiritual life and morale of the team.
Coordinates team meetings, prayer time, and other activities.
Makes sure roles are carried out effectively and making changes if needed.
Makes sure meetings run smoothly; evaluates and gives feedback.
Grants permission for personal van use, extra days off (if required) etc.
It is expected that the team leader has the final authority in team decisions, but it is also expected that each team member will have a voice in these decisions. We encourage facilitating decisions, rather authoritarian ones.
The team leader will be responsible for making notes about each week’s meetings in the TL Meeting Form and in Highrise, as well as gathering info on meetings in the area we missed. These notes will be useful for future visits to this zone.
MAIN SPEAKER
Responsible for presenting the main message on the Biblical Basis of Missions in each presentation. Due to the convictions of many of our audiences, we limit this role to men.
VAN MAINTENANCE
Get the oil changed every 3,000 miles.
Coordinates maintenance of van interior (neatness and cleanliness, vacuuming).
Makes sure the van gets washed every 3-4 weeks. Weekly when roads are heavily salted.
DOWN-TIME COORDINATOR
Connect with the team on options and opinions for downtime.
Research options to present to the team like local concerts, national parks, hikes, museums, shopping, good food, movies, etc.
Especially in cities, it’s easy to kill an hour doing laps as you try to find something to do. Research the city beforehand to make the best use of your team’s off-time in a city.
ROAD SCHEDULER
Confirms the meeting schedule.
Fills in meeting/housing details to the team calendar.
Confirms all housing and meeting details with the campus ministry 3-4 weeks before the meeting.
Makes the team leader aware of any abnormal notes in the schedule.
Adds any new/updated campus minister contact information to the team calendar event for future schedules and teams.
For a more in-depth role description and clear expectations reference the road scheduler role description document in SharePoint.
HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR
Responsible for writing thank you notes for each campus minister and host.
Makes sure that each team member has thank you cards available for housing.
If the team is split for housing and the hospitality coordinator is not with the team, another team member will be responsible for writing a thank you note for housing.
RESOURCE/BOOK TABLE MANAGER
Keeps inventory of bookstore and agency materials.
Responsible for reordering resources as needed.
Oversees the setup and takedown of the resource table.
Responsible for sending all funds to the home office via money order.
For a more in-depth role description and clear expectations reference the resource manager role description document in SharePoint.
INTRA-STAFF COMMUNICATIONS
